The Types Of Bathroom Sinks To Remodel Your Bathroom

If a bathroom remodeling plan is on your project list this year then changing the bathroom sink can be a very economical way to give a whole new fresh look to the room.

A sink installed into a countertop above a storage unit, a freestanding unit and a sink attached to a wall are a few of the many ways that this piece of furniture can be installed into the bathroom. Many people think the classic white porcelain sink is a little bland. However, they are extremely versatile, come in many shapes and can be bought to fit in many different shapes of rooms.

Porcelain sinks are now being made in many different color schemes, so it’s possible to have a marine blue, pink or even a sea green sink to produce a totally new bathroom look. Porcelain furniture may also be customized with painted motifs such as fish, seahorses and flowers, with the sink being glazed and refired after painting to increase its durability prior to installation.

At the opposite end of the spectrum to the humble porcelain sink are those that are made out of exotic materials. On example of this is wood. Sinks can be made out of expensive woods such as teak and mahogany. Although they look stunning they do require a little extra care such as toweling off after use and the annual application of a wax surface finish.

Glass sinks which have bowls that are set into countertops or mounted upon brass, chrome or wrought iron stands, are another fashionable bathroom sink innovation gaining in increasing popularity. They come in an assortment of colors and textures. I recently found a copper sink that was between two layers of glass. This is just one of the amazingly creative innovations in glass sink styles now being produced.

Sinks are now being made from many other materials such as brass, steel and stainless steel. One of my favorites is stone which can give a very earthy organic look to a bathroom. Luckily you only need the sink to be made out of these materials otherwise it would become prohibitively expensive.

When trying to chose between the many different styles and designs it is all too easy to become carried away and soon find yourself spending a fortune or pick a material that is impractical. So before taking the plunge think carefully about your budget, what style you want and the practicality of the bathroom sink.
